LOGAN, Utah – Thirteen members of Utah State's gymnastics team garnered academic all-Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference honors, it was announced Friday by the league.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average for the 2021-22 school year and have appeared on the squad list during the 2022 campaign.

The MRGC recognized a total of 71 student-athletes as Southern Utah led the way with 29 honorees, following by Boise State (18), Utah State and BYU (11).

The 13 Aggies included senior Carley Bayles, juniors Lexi Aragon, Maia Fishwick, Sofi Sullivan, Ariel Toomey and Rebecca Wells, sophomore Brianna Brooks, and freshmen Molly Arnold, Trinity Brown, Brie Clark, Dani Kirstine, Kielyn McCright and Brooke Wilson.

This marks the third time in Toomey's career that the MRGC has recognized her for her academic success. For Aragon, Bayles, Brooks and Fishwick, this is their second time earning academic all-MRGC accolades.

Utah State enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in school history in 2022, which ended with a third-place finish in Session 1 of the second round of the NCAA Norman Regional on March 31, at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Aggies, who ended the year ranked No. 23 in the nation, scored at least a 49.075 on each event en route to finishing with a team score of 196.825, which is the highest score in program history for an NCAA regional meet and also ranks third all-time in school history.

Utah State captured its first-ever Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championship as the Aggies recorded a season-high 197.025, which ranks second all-time in school history. It proved to be USU's sixth conference title overall and its first since 2005 (Western Gymnastics Conference).
