LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer has broken into the United Soccer Coaches Pacific Region rankings after opening the year unbeaten with a mark of 2-0-2. The Aggies are No. 10 in the latest poll, joining Washington State at No. 9, as both joined the poll after being previously unranked.

USU bookended a pair of wins with a season-opening tie at Northern Arizona (2-2) and another draw in its last match against WAC preseason favorite Grand Canyon. The Aggies' victories this season have come against Idaho State (5-0) and Illinois State (2-1).

Utah State is the best scoring team in the Mountain West, averaging 3.0 goals per game, the most since the Aggies averaged a school-record 2.18 goals per match during the 1999 season. Should USU keep up its goals per game average, the team will far surpass the current school record of 40 goals in a season, set by the 2007 squad.

Utah State has featured an incredible balance as eight different players have logged at least one goal, while 13 different players have recorded an assist. In all, 17 different players have tallied at least one point on the year with senior forward Sammie Murdock leading the way with five behind two goals and one assist.

Utah State continues its 2022 season this week, beginning a three-match road swing at UC Riverside on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 8:30 p.m. (MT).
