CHESTERTON, Ind. – Utah State golf played through nearly two rounds of the Valparaiso-hosted Valpo Fall Invitational on Monday at the Sand Creek Country Club.
 
Round one was completed Monday afternoon, but the second round was suspended due to darkness.
 
The Aggies were in seventh place after shooting a 10-over 298 in the first round at the 7,082-yard, par-72 Sand Creek Country Club. Host Valparaiso shot a 4-under 284 in the opening round to lead all teams.
 
Esteban Jaramillo led USU in the opening round as the sophomore carded a 2-under 70 to tie for third. Including his first round today, Jaramillo has shot even par or better in six-consecutive rounds.
 
Two more Aggies finished in the top-25 individually following the first round in juniors Javier Vazquez and Josh Pehrson who each carded a 2-over 74 to tie for 25th. The tournament marks Pehrson's Utah State debut.
 
Sophomore Nathan Preslar shot an 8-over 80 in round one, while graduate Cameron Tucker carded a 13-over 85.
 
Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon and Bradley's Josh Kirkham led all scorers in the first round at 3-under 69.
 
The tournament wraps up Tuesday with the conclusion of the second round followed by 18 holes for the third and final round. Tee times will range between 6:30-8 a.m. (MT). Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
