SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State's men's cross country team took first place (16 points) while the women finished third (63) behind a pair of ranked opponents in the Utah Open on Thursday afternoon at Sunnyside Park.

Wyatt Evans led the Aggies in the men's 6K as the junior broke the tape first, crossing the finish line in 20:29.7. The native of Spanish Fork, Utah, paced a trio of top-five finishes by USU as junior Ben Berlin placed second (20:33.3) and freshman Samuel Jackson took fourth (21:06.3).

Rounding out the scoring for the Aggies were freshmen Drew Hogan in sixth (21:23.6) and Adam Wall in ninth (21:36.4).

Utah Valley finished second with 47 points.

The Aggie women had three runners finish in the top 15 as grad senior Bailey Brinkerhoff-Todd placed eighth (19:15.2), while freshman Cameron Moore captured 11th (19:25.4) and sophomore Meredith Price took 14th (19:34.6).
 
Two other Utah State runners finished inside the top 20 as sophomore Hazel Baird placed 17th (19:48.5) and junior Madison Strasner ended in 18th (19:50.0).
 
No. 4 BYU captured the women's 5K title with 15 points, while No. 27 Utah Valley finished runner-up with 60 points.

The Utah Open marked the Aggies' last regular-season meet.

UP NEXT: Utah State opens the postseason with the Mountain West Championships on Friday, Oct. 27, in Boise, Idaho. The women's 6K will begin at 10:15 a.m., while the men's 8K is slated to start at 11 a.m.
