LOGAN, Utah – Utah State junior long snapper
Jacob Garcia has been named to the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, it was announced Thursday by the Wuerffel Foundation.
Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.

Garcia, a two-time academic all-MW recipient, spends countless hours working with various groups/organizations on campus and in the community.
Semifinalists for the Wuerffel Trophy will be announced on Nov. 2, and finalists will be announced on Nov. 28. The formal announcement of the recipient is scheduled to be made during The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 7. The presentation of the 2023 Wuerffel Trophy will occur on Feb. 17, 2024, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
Garcia and the Aggies (3-4, 1-2 MW) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, when they hit the road to take on San José State (2-5, 1-2 MW) at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, California. The game, slated to kick off at 5 p.m. (MT), will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
