SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Utah State men's tennis fifth-year senior Bodin Zarkovic became only the second Aggie in program history to compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Fall National Championships.
In the round of 32 of the Men's Open Singles Draw, the native of Belgrade, Serbia, took the first set in a come-from-behind 7-6 (3) tiebreaker win against Glendale Community College (CA)'s Jean-Baptiste Badon.
Badon took the second set with a 6-1 victory over Zarkovic.
In the final set of the match, Zarkovic recorded a 6-2 win over Badon and became the first Aggie to move onto the round of 16 at the ITA Fall National Championships.
After today's win, Zarkovic holds the No. 1 spot in Utah State history for most singles wins in a fall tournament season with 15. He also continued his winning streak of 29-straight singles victories, his last loss being on Feb. 24, at the Arizona State Invite.
Zarkovic will compete in the round of 16 of the ITA National Championships on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. (MT) against ITA No. 17-ranked Micah Braswell of the University of Texas.
