Whitney Lopez Called Up to Guatemala Senior Women’s National Team

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's Whitney Lopez recently earned a spot on the Guatemala Senior Women's National Team and will join the squad for Gold Cup qualification next week.

Lopez, a midfielder from Logan, Utah, was invited by the team to participate in a training camp from Nov. 20-22. At the conclusion of the camp, she was called up to the national team and will be rostered for the team's upcoming camp and Gold Cup qualification match against Jamaica on Sunday, Dec. 3.

During her senior campaign in 2023, Lopez played 13 matches after returning mid-season from an injury. She scored a pair of goals in 321 minutes of action, and played a crucial part in Utah State's run to the Mountain West Championship title as she scored the game-winning overtime goal in the semifinal round versus Colorado State and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
