LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's
Kelsey Kaufusi continues to garner accolades after a stellar senior campaign, as she was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as a member of the All-Pacific Region Second Team.
Kaufusi, a defender from Syracuse, Utah, became the fifth player in program history to earn all-region honors in multiple years, after also being named to the second team in 2021. This is just the sixth time an Aggie player has earned all-region first or second team honors.
The 2023 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, Kaufusi led the Aggies to new heights in a record-setting year as she anchored one of the top defenses in the nation. While playing all 2,090 minutes this season, Kaufusi led a USU defense which posted 10 shutouts and allowed just 0.78 goals per contest, both league-leading marks. She also recorded three assists on the year.
As a team, USU tied a program record with 14 wins and secured its first-ever Mountain West Championship title to punch a ticket to just the third NCAA Tournament in team history.
