LOGAN, Utah – Utah State junior guard
Steven Ashworth has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Feb. 5. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
It is the first time this season and second time in his career Ashworth has earned America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week accolades.
The native of Alpine, Utah, led Utah State to a 2-0 Mountain West record last week with an 84-73 home win against New Mexico and an 88-79 victory at Colorado State.
Against the Lobos, Ashworth had 19 points, two assists, two steals and a rebound. Against the Rams, he had 26 points, including a career-high-tying eight 3-pointers, to go along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
For the week, Ashworth averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 48.1 percent (13-of-27) from the field, 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from behind the arc and 100.0 percent (9-of-9) at the free throw line.
Utah State (19-5, 8-3 MW) hosts league-leading San Diego State (18-5, 9-2 MW) on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. (MT) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior guard Tamiah Robinson (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game as Utah State lost a pair of Mountain West games to Colorado State (86-54) and Nevada (68-63). Against the Rams, Robinson scored 18 points, to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. Against the Wolf Pack, she scored 16 points, to go along with five rebounds, three steals and one assist. For the week, Robinson shot 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from the field, 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from 3-point range and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) at the free throw line.
GYMNASTICS – Senior Alivia Ostendorf (Ramsey, Minnesota) captured her first-career title as an Aggie as she tied for first on floor with a career-high 9.925 in Utah State's 196.325-195.675 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference loss at Boise State. Ostendorf also placed sixth on vault with a career-best 9.825 to help the Aggies record a season-best 48.950 on the event and tied for eighth on beam with a 9.675.
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Freshman Logan Hammer (Nampa, Idaho) won the men's pole vault in a jump-off with a personal-best mark of 5.10 meters (16-75.00) at the USU-hosted Aggies Speed and Power Meet last weekend. Hammer's mark is tied for sixth all-time in school history.
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Junior Abbey Bryant (Santa Clarita, California) won the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 8.60, which ranks fifth all-time in school history, at the USU-hosted Aggies Speed and Power Meet last weekend.
MEN'S TENNIS – Senior Bodin Zarkovic (Belgrade, Serbia) completed a perfect weekend going 2-0 in both singles and doubles play as Utah State posted home wins against Eastern Washington (7-0) and Grand Canyon (6-1). Against the Eagles, Zarkovic teamed with fellow senior Roko Savin for a 6-1 win at the first position and then recorded a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1). And against the Antelopes, Zarkovic teamed with fellow senior David Cierny for a 6-1 win at the first doubles position and then posted a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-3).
WOMEN'S TENNIS – Graduate student Monique Burton (Sydney, Australia) posted a 3-1 record last week to help Utah State to a 1-1 record with a 6-1 loss at Idaho State and a 7-0 win against Utah Tech. Against the Bengals, Burton posted a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-3) and teamed with senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk for a 6-3 loss at the first doubles position. And against the Trailblazers, Burton teamed with senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk for a 6-3 win at the first doubles position and then posted a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-1).
