Box Score 2 SANTA CLARA, California – Utah State softball lost a pair of games to Santa Clara on Friday at the SCU Softball Stadium, losing 5-1 and 9-3 in the first and second games of a doubleheader, respectively.

In USU's first game of the day, freshman
Hailey McLean started in the circle for the Aggies, pitching 2.1 innings before the duo of sophomore
Mia Reynolds and freshman Sydney Saldaña combined to finish out the contest. All told, the Aggie pitchers allowed only three hits and four earned runs on the afternoon. The Utah State offense, however, was largely kept quiet. McLean provided the lone spark with an RBI double in the fifth inning to bring home senior
Makenzie Macfarlane for USU's lone run.

In game two, the Aggie offense awoke with a three-run fourth inning as USU strung together four hits and a walk. Macfarlane notched a two-RBI double to right center before reaching home herself on a single from graduate senior
Gabriella Jimenez. The Broncos, however, maintained their momentum, scoring in each of the first four innings. The Aggies were unable to complete the comeback en route to the 9-3 loss. Freshman
Tess Bumiller earned the start for the Aggies with senior
Alyssa Millemon, junior
Jessica Stewart and Saldaña appearing in relief for USU.
