IRVINE, California — Utah State men's tennis finished its three-match weekend with a 4-2 loss to UC Irvine on Saturday. 

The Aggies started the match strong by securing the doubles point with wins at the first and third positions. Seniors David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic took the victory on court one by posting a 6-4 score. Seniors Jack Ninteman and Roko Savin earned the doubles point with a tiebreak win on court three, 7-6 (5). 

Utah State fell short during singles play with only one match won and one match left unfinished. 

At the second position, Zarkovic defeated his Anteater opponent in a 7-5, 6-3 victory. 

On court three, junior Stijn Paardekooper's match was suspended while he was ahead with a 6-4, 2-6, 3-2 score. Senior Javier Ruiz was the lone other Aggie to force a third set but came up short at the sixth position. 

Utah State men's tennis returns home to the Sports Academy & Racquet Club to take on border-foe Idaho State on Wednesday, March 22, at 12 pm (MT).
