Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SANTA CLARA, California – Utah State softball dropped a pair of games on Saturday at the SCU Softball Stadium. The Aggies fell to UC Davis, 7-6, and to Santa Clara, 9-6.

In game one versus the Aggies of UC Davis, Utah State jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Graduate senior Gabriella Jimenez kicked off the scoring with a double to right field in the second inning, bringing home freshman Grace Matej for the game's opening run. Sophomore Claire Raley then hit her second home run of the season in the third inning, also plating freshman Kya Pratt with the deep shot. Later in the same inning with the bases loaded, Jimenez drew a walk to bring home freshman Jaden Colunga before freshman Hailey McLean brought home senior Makenzie Macfarlane with a sacrifice fly to push USU's lead to five.

UC Davis squared the game across the following two innings before Jimenez again pushed the Aggies in front, 6-5, with an RBI single to score Macfarlane in the fifth inning. UC Davis took their first lead of the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run single. Utah State had two batters reach base in the sixth inning but was unable to retake the lead in the eventual defeat.

Utah State's second game of the day was USU's third matchup against Santa Clara and mirrored the back-and-forth affair of the day's first game. Raley continued a strong day with a leadoff triple in the third inning, subsequently scoring the game's opening run off a wild pitch in the next at-bat. The Broncos tied the game in the bottom half with an RBI single before Raley again pushed USU in front in the fourth inning with a bases-loaded walk.

Santa Clara plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead. In the sixth inning, Raley again ignited the Aggie offense, clearing the bases with a three-run double to center field. Raley later scored herself off a wild pitch and throwing error. USU's lead was again short-lived, however, as the Broncos scored five in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-6 lead and held on in the seventh inning for the win.
