LOGAN, Utah - Utah State freshman left fielder
Jaden Colunga has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
It is Colunga's third MW Freshman of the Week honor this season. The Aggies have now won four of the last eight freshmen weekly accolades.
The native of Colton, California, tied for a team-best .375 (3-of-8) batting average last week, including a team-best two doubles. She had a slugging percentage of .625, logging five total bases, including one hit by pitch, and scored one run. She was also perfect in fielding, recording eight putouts.
In game 1 against San Diego State, Colunga was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles. In game 2, she was 1-for-3 from the plate and scored one run while recording four putouts. In game 3, she reached base on a hit by pitch and recorded four putouts.
