Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Utah State softball (13-18, 5-6 Mountain West) split its doubleheader at Colorado State (20-14, 6-7 MW) on Wednesday.

The Aggies began the day with a 6-0 game 1 victory. USU came out hot in the top of the fourth frame as sophomore third baseman Claire Raley singled down the left field line before stealing both second and third. Freshman left fielder Jaden Colunga then scored Raley with an RBI single.

Senior catcher Makenzie Macfarlane drew a four-pitch walk at the next at-bat before graduate first baseman Gabriella Jimenez scored Colunga with a double to left field. Sophomore shortstop Ariel Fifita later logged a two-RBI double to score Macfarlane and Jimenez. A Ram error would score sophomore second baseman Giselle Gonzalez as USU ended the inning with a 5-0 lead.

Colunga scored the Aggies' final run of game 1 with a lead-off home run to left field in the top of the fifth as Utah State won 6-0.

Freshman Hailey McLean pitched a complete-game shutout, recording 12 strikeouts while giving up just three hits in her seventh win of the season.

Colorado State bounced back to win 7-2 om game 2. USU took an initial 2-0 lead in the top of the third as Colunga doubled to left center to score freshman right fielder Kya Pratt and Raley. However, the Rams scored multiple runs in the next two innings, scoring three in the bottom of the fourth and four in the bottom of the fifth, for the 7-2 victory.

Three Aggies saw time in the circle in game 2 as sophomore Mia Reynolds made the start, pitching 3.2 innings. She was relieved by a pair of freshmen in Tess Bumiller and Sydney Saldaña who pitched 1.0 and 1.1 innings, respectively.
