LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Utah State men's tennis suffered a gut-wrenching 4-3 defeat to UNLV on Sunday.
UNLV seized the early advantage by clinching victories in the doubles matches at the No. 1 and 3 positions, despite the duo of freshman Nuno Pinheiro and junior Stijn Paardekooper securing a win for Utah State at the second spot.
Utah State's singles players earned three points during their matches, falling just short of securing the victory.
USU senior, Bodin Zarkovic, was the first to earn a point in the Aggie column. He swiftly won at the second position in a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
On court five, sophomore Sergi Micó Fenollar secured the second point for the Aggies with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over his UNLV adversary.
Senior David Cierny clinched the last point for the Aggies with a hard-fought three-set victory, prevailing 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at the top position.
After playing on the road, Utah State men's tennis team will return home to host two matches at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The first match will take place on Thursday, April 6, at 12 p.m. (MT) against Air Force, followed by a clash with San Diego State on Saturday, April 8, also at 12 p.m. (MT).
