Box Score RENO, Nevada – Utah State softball (11-15, 3-3 Mountain West) was hot out of the gate in its 4-1 victory over Nevada (24-6, 5-4 MW) on Sunday.
The Aggies scored all four of their runs in the top of the first inning as freshman right fielder
Kya Pratt and sophomore third baseman
Claire Raley had back-to-back hits to get things started in the frame. Freshman left fielder
Jaden Colunga brought home Pratt with a sacrifice fly to right field before a two-run homer from senior catcher
Makenzie Macfarlane gave the Aggies a 3-0 edge. Graduate senior first baseman
Gabriella Jimenez then doubled to right field before being brought home on an RBI single from sophomore second baseman
Claudia Medina.
Neither team scored until a solo home run from Nevada in the bottom of the seventh. That would be the only run, however, for the Wolf Pack as the Aggies held on for the 4-1 victory.
Freshman
Hailey McLean pitched her third complete game of the season for her sixth victory, recording 10 strikeouts and just three hits during her time in the circle.
