LOGAN, Utah — Utah State head women's basketball coach
Kayla Ard announced the signing of Ivory Finley on Thursday.
"We are thrilled to add Ivory to the squad," Ard said. "She is a talented guard with great size on the perimeter. She brings a proven scoring ability at the D1 level as well as tenacious defense with her to Cache Valley. Ivory is a wonderful young lady from a really good family. Her character speaks volumes, and I am looking forward to having her leadership in our locker room and on the court."
Finley will join the Aggies as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining. Finley spent her first two seasons at UMass Lowell, appearing in 51 games and starting 33 across her freshman and sophomore campaigns. This past season, Finley started in all 27 games she appeared in, leading the Riverhawks with 10.0 points per contest. She also added 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
"I chose Utah State University because of the culture, traditions and team atmosphere," Finley said. "The coaching staff is amazing and the support staff that I met, like strength and conditioning coach Priya Sidhu and Associate AD Justice Smith, are going to make sure I am ready to play and succeed in the classroom. The core values of coach Ard and USU women's basketball really resonated with me, as well as their attention to detail to help me improve not just on the court but, more importantly, in life. I can't wait to get back on campus and I am super excited to see our team light the A blue with the support of Aggie fans."
Finley hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and played high school basketball at Rosemount High School. Finley led her team to a first-place finish in the AAAA Section 3 regular season and a state runner-up finish as a junior. She was named all-conference during her junior season and was varsity captain as a senior.
Finley is the daughter of Willie and Krystal Finley and has four siblings: Ruby, Cherish, Honour and Glory.
