LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball (12-17, 4-5 Mountain West) lost 6-3 to San Diego State (24-11, 8-4 MW) on Saturday.
The Aztecs held a 6-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning after scoring one run in both the top of the fourth and sixth frames, while putting four runs on the board in the top of the fifth.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth, graduate first baseman
Gabriella Jimenez drew a walk to score sophomore third baseman
Claire Raley to put the Aggies on the board.
Sophomore second baseman
Claudia Medina drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the seventh inning before freshman right fielder
Kya Pratt cut the San Diego State lead in half with a homerun to left field. However, that would be it for USU as SDSU won 6-3.
A pair of Aggie freshmen saw time in the circle on Saturday as
Hailey McLean made the start, striking out three batters in 4.0 innings of work. She was relieved by
Tess Bumiller who struck out two Aztecs in 3.0 innings pitched.
