LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's golf team will conclude the regular season when the Aggies return to action for the UC Santa Barbara Collegiate Invitational at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California.
 
The 54-hole tournament featuring 12 teams from two states will include two 18-hole rounds on Monday, April 10, and a final 18-hole round on Tuesday, April 11, on the par-72, 7,071-yard Seaside Course.
 
Scheduled to tee it up for the Aggies are sophomores Esteban Jaramillo (No. 1), Julio Arronte Sanchez (No. 3) and Luis Gerardo Cantu (No. 5), along with juniors John Cook (No. 2) and Javier Vazquez (No. 4).
 
Along with the Aggies and host Gauchos, who have two teams competing, the field includes Cal Lutheran, CSUN, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, Weber State and Westmont.
 
States represented at the tournament include California (Cal Lutheran, CSUN, UCR, UCSD, UCSB, Westmont) and Utah (USU, Utah Tech, UVU, SUU, WSU).
 
Utah State placed sixth at the 2022 UCSB Collegiate. The second round of the two-day tournament was canceled due to windy conditions, so the Aggies finished with a 36-hole score of 18-over 594.
 
In its last tournament, Utah State finished in 19th place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, which took place last week at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona.
 
The Aggies shot an 18-over 306 during the final 18 holes of play on the par-72, 7,334-yard Cattail Course. Utah State finished the two-day invitational at 36-over 900 (290-304-306).
 
Jaramillo led the way for the Aggies individually as he tied for 38th at 5-over 221 (73-71-77). Cook tied for 60th at 8-over 224 (70-80-74) and Arronte Sanchez tied for 70th at 10-over 226 (76-74-76). Cook led Utah State with 11 birdies and one eagle.
 
Following this week's tournament, the Aggies will take part in the Mountain West Championships, April 28-30, in Tucson, Arizona.
