Utah State Basketball Signs Darius Brown II to 2023-24 Roster

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head men's basketball coach Danny Sprinkle announced the signing of Darius Brown II to the 2023-24 roster.
 
Brown, a 6-foot-2 guard, joins the Aggies after spending last season playing for Sprinkle at Montana State. Before joining the Bobcats, Brown played four seasons at CSUN. In total, Brown has appeared in 130 career games, including 126 starts, while averaging 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 46.1 percent (426-of-924) from the field, 36.1 percent (119-of-330) from behind the arc and 79.9 percent (219-of-274) at the free throw line.
 
The native of Pasadena, California, was the 2022-23 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year and third-team all-conference after averaging 11.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and a conference-leading 2.4 steals per league game. Brown helped lead the Bobcats to the Big Sky Tournament title. He finished the season averaging 9.1 points, 4.9 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 46.5 percent (106-of-228) from the field, 39.7 percent (29-of-73) from deep and 90.9 percent (70-of-77) at the free throw line.
 
In his four years at CSUN, Brown averaged 9.3 points, 4.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He was named second-team all-Big West in 2020-21 after finishing fifth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.6). Brown finished his Matador career ranking third in program history in assists (431), while he tied for ninth place in games started (93) and steals (134).
 
Brown has scored in double figures 54 times in his collegiate career, including a career-high 26 points against Cal Poly (Feb. 13, 2020) while at CSUN. He has collected double-digit rebounds five times, including a career-best 16 boards as part of a triple-double effort with the Matadors against Hawai'i with 18 points and 10 assists (Feb. 20, 2021). Brown has dished out double-digit assists six times in his career, including a career-high 16 against Middle Tennessee (Nov. 27, 2022) while playing for Montana State, and has logged at least five assists in 60 games. He has totaled 60 games recording multiple steals, including a career-best of five steals with CSUN twice.
 
Brown prepped at Pasadena (California) High School, where he guided the team to the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA Finals as a senior. During his senior campaign in 2017-18, Brown averaged 15 points, 11 assists, five steals and five rebounds per game. He broke the school's single-game assist record twice during his senior year, including a 20-assist game in the CIF state playoffs. He made the game-winning shot to send Pasadena to the CIF Southern Section finals. In his last two years with the team, Brown helped Pasadena post a 52-15 overall record, 27-1 league mark and 11-4 postseason record.
