LOGAN, Utah - Utah State softball's Jaden Colunga and Gabriella Jimenez were honored by the Mountain West on Wednesday as Colunga was named the MW Freshman of the Year, while Jimenez earned second-team all-MW accolades.
 
Colunga, a native of Colton, California, started in all 22 games for the Aggies in left field during league play. She was a three-time MW Freshman of the Week honoree, the most by a freshman this season, along with earning one Player of the Week distinction. Colunga batted .338 (23-of-68) in league play, including five doubles and a home run, while drawing six walks and a hit by pitch. She recorded a .456 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .395. Colunga finished conference play with 31 RBIs, 31 putouts, nine runs scored and one sacrifice fly.
 
Jimenez, a native of Sacramento, California, also started in all 22 league games for the Aggies, appearing at first base. In league action, she ranked second in putouts (133), fourth in chances (137), 10th in RBIs (20), tied for 10th in fielding double plays (4), tied for 12th in home runs (4) and 17th in slugging percentage (.597). She batted .343 (23-of-67) during conference play, including five doubles and four home runs, while logging a team-best 20 RBIs and scoring 10 runs. Jimenez drew seven walks and recorded an on-base percentage of .405.
