LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head soccer coach
Manny Martins announced the 2023 schedule for the Aggies. USU will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 5 p.m., when they welcome Weber State to Chuck & Gloria Bell Field.
The match will be the start of a three-match homestand to begin the season and part of 12 home matches overall. The Aggies will also host Saint Louis on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m., and Utah on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. SLU finished the 2022 campaign ranked 20th in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings.
Utah State's first road test will come at Texas Tech on Sunday, Aug. 27, at 6:15 p.m. (MT) in Lubbock, Texas. USU will then return home to play South Dakota State on Friday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m., and South Dakota on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m.
The Aggies will venture south to Tucson, Arizona, for a pair of matches, first taking part in a neutral match against Arizona State on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. (MT), before playing on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. (MT) at Arizona. USU will conclude its non-conference schedule by hosting in-state rival BYU on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. BYU finished last season ranked 14th in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings.
Mountain West action will begin with a two-match road trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Aggies will begin conference play at Air Force on Thursday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m., before playing at Colorado College on Sunday, Sept. 24, at noon.
USU's conference home-opener will come against Colorado State on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 5 p.m. The Aggies will host Wyoming later that weekend on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m.
Utah State will head back on the road to face New Mexico in Albuquerque on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m. The Aggies will also take on San Diego State on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. (MT).
The Aggies then host a four-match home stand through the thick of conference play. USU hosts Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m., before playing 2022 MW champion San José State on Sunday, Oct. 15, at noon. The Spartans also claimed a share of the 2022 MW regular season title alongside Wyoming and New Mexico.
USU's penultimate home match will come against UNLV on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. The Aggies will then celebrate senior day against Nevada on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. The regular season comes to a close on Thursday, Oct. 26, when Utah State takes on Boise State at 7 p.m.
The 2023 Mountain West tournament is set to take place in Laramie, Wyoming, on Sunday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Nov. 4.
