LOGAN, Utah — Utah State head women's basketball coach
Kayla Ard announced the signing of Cheyenne Stubbs on Wednesday.
"We are excited to add Cheyenne to the roster," Ard said. "She comes from a great family. She plays with a chip on her shoulder and can really shoot the ball. She expects big things from herself and I love her confidence. Aggie nation is going to enjoy watching her in the Spectrum."
Stubbs, a 5-foot-5 guard, joins the Aggies after two seasons at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, appearing in 51 total games and starting 13. This past season, Stubbs averaged 8.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and a team-best 33.0 percent from 3-point territory. She scored in double figures in seven of the final 10 games of the season, including a career-high 25 points against Saint Peter's, and was named to the MAAC all-academic team. As a freshman in 2021-22, Stubbs twice received MAAC Rookie of the Week honors, and averaged 5.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game on the year.
"When I first talked to (coach Ard) on the phone, everything felt just right," Stubbs said. "Once I arrived in Logan, coach K and the rest of the coaching staff made me feel special. I fell in love with the atmosphere and the vision they have for this program and I knew this was the place for me. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity to play at Utah State and help make the program successful."
Stubbs was a four-year letterwinner at Braden River High School in Bradenton, Florida, posting an average of 22.4 points per game across her career and being named team captain prior to her senior season. Stubbs earned varsity first-team and all-area starter honors from 2017-21 and was a two-time Player of the Year (6A) candidate.
