Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas — The Utah State soccer team (1-3, 0-0 MWC) fell in its first road contest of the 2023 season, suffering a 3-0 loss to Texas Tech Sunday afternoon at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The Aggies found themselves facing an uphill battle from the start after allowing a Red Raider goal just over a minute into the contest. That goal was the first part of a first-half brace by Texas Tech's Ashleigh Williams, who then scored again in the 35th minute to make it a 2-0 deficit for USU.
The Aggies came out of the locker room at halftime firing, taking five shots in the first 12 minutes of the second half, but none were able to find the back of the net. The Red Raiders tacked on to their lead in the 62nd minute with a goal from Gisselle Kozarski.
Utah State finished the match even with Texas Tech in the shots column with nine shots apiece, though the Red Raiders had six on frame to USU's three.
Utah State now returns home to Chuck and Gloria Bell Field for a pair of matches against Summit League foes next week, first facing South Dakota State on Friday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m. The Aggies will then host South Dakota on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed by Mountain West Network with live stream and stat links available on utahstateaggies.com.
