LOGAN, Utah — Utah State women's basketball (3-16, 0-8 MW) lost to San Diego State Wednesday evening at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, falling 76-62.
The Aggies got off to a hot start in this one, scoring nine of the game's first 12 points. The USU defense came up big early as the Aztecs were held to just 16.7 percent (3-of-18) in the first quarter. Both sides found some offensive rhythm in the second quarter as the Aggies used an efficient effort, shooting 58.3 percent (7-of-12) in the stanza to take a 28-26 lead into the halftime locker room.
Junior guard
Ivory Finley was the spark plug for the Aggies early on, providing eight points and six rebounds in the first 20 minutes of action. She would go on to finish with 13 points, one of three USU players in double-figures.
Utah State remained on top and controlled the pace for much of the first three quarters, going up by as many as eight points with a 36-28 lead midway through the third before an 18-3 Aztec run put the visitors back in front. They'd remain on top for the rest of the way, using a 50-point second half to clinch the victory.

Samiana Suguturaga also had a strong performance, finishing with 10 points and six boards.

Macy Smith led the squad's facilitation efforts with four helpers apiece.
Utah State finished the contest shooting 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the floor, 50.0 percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range and 90.0 percent (9-of-10) at the charity stripe. San Diego State shot 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the field, including 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from deep and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free throw line.
The Aztecs were paced by Adryana Quezada, who went for team-highs of 20 points and eight boards.
