OPENING TIPS
• With Utah State checking in at No. 18 in this week's Associated Press poll, it is the 10th team to be nationally ranked in school history and first since the 2019-20 team climbed as high as No. 15. USU's highest-ever ranking was in 1960 when it was No. 7 in the nation. Overall, USU is 68-21 (.764) as an AP ranked team.
• Utah State ranks 25th in the NET and 43rd by KenPom as of Jan. 24.
• Head coach
Danny Sprinkle was named the recipient of the Jim Phelan Award Mid-Season honors on Jan. 4.
• Utah State junior wing
Great Osobor has been named to the 2023-24 Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List.
• Utah State ranks in the top 50 in the nation in several categories, including defensive 3-point field goal percentage (.275, 5th), field goal percentage (.500, 10th), assists per game (17.47, 19th), scoring margin (+14.16, 19th), assist-to-turnover (1.53, 22nd), rebounding margin (+7.32, 25th) and scoring offense (82.16, 27th).
• Graduate senior guard
Darius Brown II ranks fifth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.22) and assists per game (7.11).
• Junior wing
Great Osobor ranks 24th in the nation in rebounds per game (9.68), 26th in field goal percentage (.594) and 30th in defensive rebounds per game (6.74).
• Utah State's 5-1 start to Mountain West play is its second-best in its 11 years in the league, trailing only the 2020-21 team that started MW play with a 9-0 record.
• Utah State's 17-2 start to the season is the sixth-best in school history behind the 2008-09 (25-2), the 2010-11 (22-2), the 2003-04 (20-2), the 2000-01 (18-2) and the 1959-60 (18-2) teams.
• Utah State is 15-1 this season when scoring at least 70 points.
• Utah State is one of just three teams in the nation returning zero points to its 2023-24 roster, joining New Mexico State and Northwestern State. The Aggies also have the second-fewest returning rebounds (0.004 percent) and are tied for the second-fewest returning assists (0.003 percent), both behind NMSU.
