LOGAN, Utah — Utah State men's basketball head coach
Danny Sprinkle announced the promotion of
Andy Hill to associate head coach on Friday.
"Andy has been a tremendous asset for our players, our staff and me personally," Sprinkle said. "He is the consummate professional and attacks his daily job with the intention of making everyone better. When he joined my staff two years ago, I instantly saw a change in my staff dynamics and cohesiveness. He has made my other assistants better and our players absolutely love him and trust him. His perspective and positive attitude rubs off on everyone in our program. He will be a terrific head coach when he gets the opportunity."
Hill has helped lead USU to a 17-2 start, including a 5-1 Mountain West mark. The Aggies' 5-1 start to Mountain West play is its second-best in its 11 years in the league, trailing only the 2020-21 team that started MW play with a 9-0 record. Utah State's 17-2 start to the season is the sixth-best in school history behind the 2008-09 (25-2), the 2010-11 (22-2), the 2003-04 (20-2), the 2000-01 (18-2) and the 1959-60 (18-2) teams.
Utah State ranks in the top 50 in the nation in several categories, including defensive 3-point field goal percentage (.275, 5th), field goal percentage (.500, 10th), assists per game (17.47, 19th), scoring margin (+14.16, 19th), assist-to-turnover (1.53, 22nd), rebounding margin (+7.32, 25th) and scoring offense (82.16, 27th).
