LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football graduate senior
Stephen Kotsanlee has been selected as one of the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 for week 6 it was announced on Tuesday.
Kotsanlee, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound punter from Melbourne, Australia (Box Hill HS), punted five times for a total of 230 yards in USU's 62-30 loss at No. 21 Boise State, averaging 46.0 yards per punt. Kotsanlee placed a pair of punts inside the 20-yard line and recorded a pair of punts over 50 yards. For the season, Kotsanlee is averaging 43.4 yards per punt on 22 attempts, pinning the opponent inside the 20-yard line a total of four times and recording four punts of 50+ yards.
Ray's 8 honors eight punters weekly who had the best punting performance over the weekend. A fan vote will determine the winner of the weekly award. Fans can vote at rayguyaward.com.
The Ray Guy Award honors the nation's best collegiate punter. The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) created the award in 2000. The ASC presents the award live on The Home Depot College Football Awards broadcast on ESPN. The winner is selected by a voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics; net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.
