LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer player
Kaylie Chambers has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 10. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Chambers, a forward from Arvada, Colorado, was named the Mountain West Tournament Most Valuable Player after helping the Aggies to their second-straight tournament title with a 2-0 win over 3-seed Colorado State in the semifinals and a 2-1 win over 1-seed Boise State in the championship match. Chambers was responsible for both USU goals in the championship match, recording a brace in the first 25 minutes of action with a 10
th minute goal and a 24
th minute goal. She started both of the week's matches and totaled 115 minutes on the pitch.
The Aggies will now play in the NCAA Tournament this weekend, with the full bracket being announced this afternoon at 2 p.m.

MEN'S BASKETBALL – Senior forward Aubin Gateretse (Namur, Belgium) helped Utah State open its 2024-25 campaign with a 2-0 record with home wins against Alcorn State (101-46) and Charlotte (103-74). Against the Braves, Gateretse led the team in scoring with 24 points, shooting a perfect 11-for-11 from the field, to go along with six rebounds, two blocks, one assist and one steal. He then had seven points, nine rebounds and one block against the 49ers. On the week, Gateretse averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, while shooting a perfect 100.0 percent (13-of-13) from the field and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the free throw line.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL– Senior guard Cheyenne Stubbs (Bradenton, Florida) averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in a pair of home losses last week to Kansas City (80-77) and CS Northridge (69-65). Stubbs scored 28 points alongside three rebounds, three assists and four steals against the Roos as she shot 9-of-15 (.600) from the field, including a 5-of-8 (.625) from behind the arc. She then recorded her third-career double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds against CSUN, adding four assists and three steals.
FOOTBALL– Freshman running back Herschel Turner Jr. (Richmond, Calif.) recorded a career-high 111 all-purpose yards in Utah State's 49-28 loss at No. 20 Washington State last weekend. Turner rushed for a career-high 85 yards on a career-best 16 carries (5.3 ypr) and caught a career-high four passes for a career-best 26 yards.
SOCCER – Junior forward

She started both matches and played a total of 115 minutes on the week.
MEN'S TENNIS – Senior David Martirosian (Glendale, Calif.) posted a 2-1 record in doubles play this past weekend with sophomore teammate Mohammad Alkotop at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Conference Masters Championships, held in Rome, Ga. The duo posted a three-sets win (6-3, 3-6, 10-0) in the round of 32 and a two-sets win (6-4, 6-4) in the round of 16, before losing in two sets (6-1, 6-1) in the quarterfinals.
VOLLEYBALL – Freshman Kaylie Kofe (Idaho Falls, Idaho) recorded a pair of double-doubles and totaled 97 assists and 30 digs as Utah State split a pair of Mountain West matches at Air Force (3-1) and at New Mexico (2-3). Against the Falcons, Kofe finished with 49 assists and 12 digs in the win and added three kills and two block assists. She then posted 48 assists and a career-high 18 digs against the Lobos, to go along with three block assists and two kills. For the week, Kofe averaged 10.78 assists and 3.33 digs per set, while adding five kills and five blocks.
