LOGAN, Utah – Utah State quarterback
Bryson Barnes has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 24. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Barnes was also named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 for Week 13, and was one of eight quarterbacks named a Manning Award Star of the Week, marking the first time he has ever received any of these honors.
Offensive Player of the Week
Bryson Barnes, Quarterback (6-2, 205, Jr., Milford, Utah)
- Accounted for four touchdowns and had 332 yards of total offense as he came off the bench in the second quarter.
- Set a single-game school record for rushing yards by a quarterback as he gained a career-high 193 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown. It was Barnes' first career 100-yard rushing game.
- Those 193 rushing yards are the second-most by a Mountain West quarterback this year and the fifth-most by a quarterback at the FBS level.
- Was 13-of-15 passing for 139 yards and a season-high three touchdowns.
- Helped Utah State amass a season-high 322 rushing yards as a team.
- Barnes entered the game midway through the second quarter with Utah State trailing 10-0 and led USU to 41 unanswered points.

Utah State concludes its 2024 season this weekend at Colorado State on Friday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m. (MT). The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

MEN'S BASKETBALL – Sophomore guard Mason Falslev (Benson, Utah) helped Utah State improve to 5-0 with a 95-83 home win against Montana and a 77-69 neutral court win against Iowa, the team's first win over a traditional Big Ten opponent since 2007. Falslev matched his career high of 25 points in both games last week. Against the Grizzlies, he went for 25 points, three rebounds, one block and a career-high five steals. Against the Hawkeyes, he recorded his first-career double-double as he totaled 25 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, to go along with three assists, one block and one steal. On the week, Falslev averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks, while shooting 62.5 percent (20-of-32) from the floor, 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from 3-point range and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) at the free throw line.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Freshman guard Carlie Latta (Paul, Idaho) scored 21 points last week as Utah State lost a pair of games at Northern Colorado (85-57) and at Colorado (95-65). Against the Bears, Latta scored a career-high 15 points and also led the team with five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Latta then added six points, one assist and one steal against the Buffaloes.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY – Graduate Camren Todd (Kaysville, Utah) finished 25th with a time of 29:17.4 in the men's 10K race at the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, becoming the fifth cross country All-American in program history and first since the 2020 season. He staged the largest second-half comeback of any All-American, moving up 50 places from the race's halfway point to the finish. Todd's efforts led the men's team to a 22nd-place finish out of 31 teams, improving upon their No. 23 national ranking.
VOLLEYBALL – Freshman outside hitter Andrea Simovski (Belgrade, Serbia) posted 25 kills as the Aggies split a pair of road matches at Wyoming (3-2) and Colorado State (1-3). Against the Cowgirls, Simovski finished with 11 kills on a .348 hitting percentage, also adding seven digs. Simovski then posted 14 kills on a .241 hitting percentage with five digs and a career-high six aces against the Rams, including a streak of four-straight aces in the first set.
