• Utah State made history with its win over South Florida last week, becoming the first Aggie hoops team to ever open a season 10-0. Three teams previously had started 9-0.
• The Aggies are one of just five remaining unbeaten teams in college basketball, currently sitting at 10-0. Other undefeated squads include Florida (10-0), Oklahoma (10-0), Tennessee (10-0) and Drake (9-0).
• USU head coach
Jerrod Calhoun is the first Aggie coach to win each of his first 10 games at Utah State. The previous best start for a coach belonged to Ladell Anderson, who started the 1961-62 season with eight straight wins.
• Utah State sophomore guard
Mason Falslev was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the third time in the past four weeks after going for 27 points, nine rebounds, a career-high nine assists and three steals in the team's win over South Florida.
• Fifth year guard
Ian Martinez has scored in double-figures in every contest this year. He ranks first in the Mountain West in free throws made (64), first in free throw percentage (.914), second in scoring average (18.1), fifth in 3-pointers made (2.3), 12th in assist/turnover ratio (2.33) and 12th in assists (3.5).
• Falslev and Martinez are one of just two duos in the country that each average at least 17 points and three assists per contest. They are one of just eight pairs in the nation that each average 17 or more points.
• Utah State ranks No. 20 in the most recent NET rankings and are the highest ranked team in the Mountain West.
• Utah State is receiving votes in both the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches poll.
• This will be just the second all-time meeting between Utah State and UC San Diego. The previous matchup was on Dec. 4, 1999, an 80-58 win for USU in Logan.
• All-time against current Big West opponents, Utah State is 209-103 (.670), including a 128-26 (.831) record at home.
