LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball guard Mason Falslev has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Dec. 1. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
Falslev helped the Aggies to a 2-0 week and a team title at the NIT Season Tip-Off last week, earning a 72-67 win over St. Bonaventure and a 61-57 win over North Texas. He was named the tournament's most valuable player after averaging 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. 
 
Against the Bonnies, Falslev went for his second-consecutive double-double, which was also the second double-double of his career as he totaled 15 points, a career-high-tying 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Against the Mean Green, he scored a career-high 28 points, to go along with five boards, an assist and two steals. On the week, Falslev shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the floor, 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range and 66.7 percent (6-of-9) at the free throw line.
 
UP NEXT
Utah State will now return home for four-straight games at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies open Mountain West play on Wednesday, Dec. 4, hosting Wyoming at 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior Mia Tarver (Salt Lake City, Utah) led Utah State with 14.0 points per game, while shooting 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range across three games last week as USU lost to Omaha (79-77 OT), No. 11 Ohio State (87-51) and Stetson (84-76). Tarver also added 13 rebounds, eight assists and six steals for the week. Against Omaha, Tarver scored 17 points and added five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Facing No. 11-ranked Ohio State, Tarver led the Aggies with 12 points, all on 3-pointers, while adding three rebounds, two steals and an assist. Tarver finished the week by recording 13 points against Stetson, also adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. 
 
FOOTBALL– Junior quarterback Bryson Barnes (Milford, Utah) accounted for 374 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in Utah State's 42-37 Mountain West loss at Colorado State. Barnes was 17-of-29 passing for 189 yards with a season-high-tying three touchdowns and two interceptions and rushed for 185 yards and another scored on a career-high 24 attempts. He is the first quarterback in school history to rush for 100 yards in back-to-back games.
 
VOLLEYBALL – Junior Tierney Barlow (Colorado Springs, Colorado) finished with 10 kills on a team-best .429 hitting percentage as Utah State lost to sixth-seeded Boise State (3-1) at the Mountain West Tournament last week. Barlow also led the Aggies with two service aces in the match and added one block, four digs and three assists.
