SALT LAKE CITY – Playing in the Delta Center for the first time in program history, Utah State women's basketball lost to Utah, 87-34, on Wednesday night.
Junior forward/center
Sophie Sene opened the game for the Aggies with a jumper from the left baseline before junior guard
Jamisyn Heaton gave USU an early 4-0 lead with a pair of free throws. From there, however, the Utes flexed the ability that notched them a win over then-ranked No. 3 Notre Dame in their previous game. Utah led, 28-9 and 50-20, at the end of the first quarter and halftime, respectively. The Utes maintained control in the second half, coming out of the locker room with a 7-0 run to set the tone before retaining momentum on the way to the final buzzer.
Freshman guard/forward
Taliyah Logwood led the Aggies with nine points while shooting 2-of-4 from the field and going 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Heaton led the team with eight rebounds and added seven points. Freshman guard
Denae Skelton led USU with a career-high two blocks.
The Aggies shot 8-of-49 from the floor (16.3 percent) from the floor and 3-of-21 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. Utah State shot 75.0 percent from the FT lines, going 15-of-20.
