LOGAN, Utah – After leading Utah State soccer to a historic and record-setting 2024 campaign, the team's coaching staff, led by head coach
Manny Martins, has been recognized as the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Pacific Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
This is the second-straight year and the second time overall in team history a USU staff has earned the honor. Martins is joined on staff by assistant coaches Michele Dalton,
Erin Carrillo-Bautista and Mealii Odum. Martins was also named the Mountain West Coach of the Year this season for the second-straight year.
This coaching staff led Utah State to one of its best seasons in program history, highlighted by its second-straight Mountain West Tournament championship and the team's fourth-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Aggies went 18-1-4 on the season, as six different players earned all-Mountain West recognition while five players were named to the all-region team.
Utah State set numerous program records this season, including all-time season bests for wins (18), goals (62), assists (65), points (189) and shutouts (15). The Aggies spent the majority of the season in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll. After having never received a vote in the poll prior to this season, the team climbed to as high as No. 7 in the nation. This was tied for the highest ranking in an NCAA national poll ever for any Utah State team in any sport.
USU outscored its opponents this season by a combined score of 62-14, the fifth-best goal differential in the nation. The team also secured wins in all four of its games against in-state opponents (Utah, BYU, Weber State, Utah Valley).
The staff will now be placed on the United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year ballot. Voting will begin in early December, and the winner will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20.
