LOGAN, Utah — For the second week in a row, Utah State track & field sophomore Logan Hammer has been named the Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Hammer, a native of Nampa, Idaho, claimed the title in the men's pole vault, clearing 5.42 meters (17-9.25) at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas last Friday. His personal record ranks as the third-best in school history.

Hammer leads the Mountain West in the pole vault this season and is tied for 21st in the nation. Hammer topped his previous PR of 5.37 meters (17-7.25) set at the Utah State-hosted Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Meet on Feb. 3.

It is the second time Hammer has earned the honor, and the third time this season an Aggie has been named the MW Men's Field Athlete of the Week as junior Godwin Charles won the honor on Jan. 16 for his triple jump mark of 15.74 meters (51-7.75) at the Idaho State-hosted Snake River Open.

Utah State is next set to compete at the Mountain West Indoor Championships on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 22-24. The meet will be hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
