LOGAN, Utah — Utah State men's basketball had two players pick up Mountain West weekly accolades as graduate senior guard
Darius Brown II was named the MW Player of the Week and redshirt freshman guard
Mason Falslev was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week. The duo helped lead Utah State to a 68-63 home win over No. 19 San Diego State. USU has now recorded multiple wins against AP Top 25 teams for just the third time in school history.
Brown is the third Aggie to earn MW Player of the Week honors this season, while it is Falslev's second Freshman of the Week nod. The Aggies have now earned four MW Player of the Week honors, the most of any team this season.
Brown, a native of Pasadena, California, scored a season-best 25 points, while adding four rebounds and two assists. He shot 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the field, 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from deep and 100 percent (4-of-4) at the free throw line. He knocked down a key 3-pointer with just over two minutes left to give the Aggies the 64-58 edge. Brown also made both of his free throws with seven seconds remaining for the 68-60 Aggie lead.
Falslev, a native of Benson, Utah, recorded 10 points, three rebounds and two assists. One of his rebounds and assists came on the tip-out to Brown for the big 3-pointer with just over two minutes to go.
Utah State next visits Fresno State on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. (MT). The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
