LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Utah State women's basketball (5-25, 2-15 MW) saw its 2023-24 season come to a close Sunday evening in the first round of the Mountain West Championship as the 11-seed Aggies fell to 6-seed Boise State 85-49 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Junior guard
Cheyenne Stubbs led the Aggies in scoring with 21 points, the 22nd time she has done so this season. She also climbed a few spots higher in the history books, passing Devyn Christensen (2011-12) and Ashlee Brown (2011-12) on the single-season scoring list. She closes out the year with the eighth-highest scoring total in program history with 482 points.
For Stubbs, this was the ninth time this season scoring 20-plus points in a game. Freshman forward
Gracie Johnson also had a strong outing with seven points, two rebounds and four blocks. Sophomore forward
Tiairra Hill-Brown led the Aggies on the glass with six boards.
Utah State finished the contest shooting 22.4 percent (15-of-67) from the floor, 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from 3-point range and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) at the charity stripe. Boise State shot 44.9 percent (35-of-78) from the field, including 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from deep and 60.0 percent (9-of-15) from the free throw line.
The Broncos were paced by the duo of Abby Muse and Elodie Lalotte, who finished with 12 points apiece.
