LOGAN, Utah - Utah State senior right handed pitcher Jessica Stewart has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
 
The native of Salinas, California, helped lead USU to a 6-0 mark last week with wins over Utah Tech (9-5), Fairfield (8-1), North Dakota (2-0), Yale (9-1), Toledo (3-2 (8)) and Long Beach State (4-2 (8)). 
 
In four appearances on the mound, Stewart posted a perfect 0.00 ERA. Against Toledo, she started the game and pitched 6.0 innings without allowing a run while. Against North Dakota, she entered in relief in the bottom of the seventh inning with bases loaded to earn the final out and secure the USU win. She closed out the weekend by entering in the bottom of the eighth inning against Long Beach State and earning the final two strikeouts. 
 
In total, Stewart allowed just five hits while earning six strikeouts.
