LOGAN, Utah – No. 20 Utah State men's basketball head coach Danny Sprinkle was named the NABC Division I District 17 Coach of the Year, as announced on Tuesday. Junior wing Great Osobor was named first-team all-district, while graduate guard Darius Brown II was named to the second team.

Sprinkle is 27-6 (.818) in his one season at Utah State and 108-49 (.688) in his five seasons as a collegiate head coach. Sprinkle was named the 2024 Mountain West Coach of the Year and is a semifinalist for the 2024 Werner Ladder Naismith Men's Coach of the Year. Sprinkle's 27 wins are the second-most for a first-year head coach at Utah State behind Craig Smith, who won 28 games in his first year in 2018-19. Sprinkle's 27 wins this year are also the second-most in the nation for a head coach in his first year at his current program behind McNeese's Will Wade. Sprinkle is the fourth head coach in school history to lead Utah State to the NCAA Tournament in his first year with the program along with Ladell Andersen (1961-62), Rod Tueller (1979-80) and Craig Smith (2018-19).

Osobor was named the MW Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, along with earning first-team all-conference accolades. Osobor has started all 33 games he has played in during his first season at Utah State. He leads the team in scoring (18.0), rebounding (9.2), blocks (1.5), field goal percentage (.583), free throws made (174) and attempted (275), and is second on the team in minutes played (33.8), assists (2.88) and steals (1.30). His 15 double-doubles are the most in the Mountain West and tied for the 20th-most in the nation. Osobor's 593 points this season are the 19th-most in school history, his 302 rebounds are the 16th-most, his 50 blocks are the seventh-most, his 174 free throws are the sixth-most, his 275 free throw attempts are the third-most and his 1,114 minutes are the 17th-most.

Brown was named first-team all-MW and to the defensive team. He has started all 33 games he has played in during his first season at Utah State. Brown leads the team in minutes played (36.0), assists (6.48), steals (1.45), 3-pointers made (60) and attempted (152), 3-point field goal percentage (.395) and free throw percentage (.865), is second on the team in rebounding (4.4), and is third in scoring (12.4). He is one of just two players in school history with 200 or more assists in a season as his 214 assists are the second-most and just 10 shy of tying the school record set in 2008. Brown ranks second in the Mountain West and 10th in the nation in assists (6.48) and first in the MW and seventh in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.45). He is second in USU history in assist-to-turnover ratio and third in assists for a single season.
