Utah State Soccer Adds Two Transfers to 2024 Roster

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer head coach Manny Martins announced the addition of two transfers to the team's 2024 roster Wednesday afternoon. Goalkeeper Cora Brendle joins the Aggies as a graduate transfer from USC Upstate, while defender/midfielder Isabella Velazco joins the squad as a JUCO transfer from Santa Monica College. 
 
Brendle, a 5-foot-10 keeper from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, was named the Big South Goalkeeper of the Year as a junior in 2022. She is the most accomplished goalkeeper in USC Upstate program history, holding program career records for goals against average (1.21), save percentage (.811), wins (24), winning percentage (.570) and matches started for a goalkeeper (51), and ranking No. 2 in career saves (258) and matches played (53). She started all 37 matches the past two seasons for the Spartans, posting a 0.88 goals against average in 2022 and a 1.02 goals against average in 2023 while going a combined 20-9-8 during those two seasons. 
 
Brendle prepped at Boiling Springs (South Carolina) High School, where she lettered four times and helped her team to a pair of South Carolina High School League 5A playoff appearances. During her final three seasons of high school, Brendle recorded 183 saves in 1,130:00 minutes on the field and compiled a 16-10-1 record. 
 
Velazco, a 5-foot-6 defender/midfielder from Sylmar, California, spent her freshman season at Los Angeles City College before transferring to Santa Monica College for her sophomore year. At Santa Monica College, she was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American after starting all 22 games, totaling five goals and four assists while helping her team to a 0.44 goals against average with 11 shutouts. She also earned CCCSCA All-Region and All-State honors and was named her league's defensive player of the year. 
 
While at Los Angeles City College in 2022, Velazco earned First Team All-South Coast Conference North Division honors after totaling eight goals and four assists in 14 starts. She prepped at Granada Hills (California) Charter High School, where she was the school's valedictorian and an AP Scholar Award recipient as she earned three varsity letters.
