Box Score EAGLE, Idaho – Utah State men's tennis lost in the championship match of the Boise State Spring Fling to Boise State 3-4. The Aggies finished in second place in the tournament.
 
USU earned the doubles point to start the match. At the No. 2 spot, junior Sergi Micó Fenollar and graduate senior Bodin Zarkovic posted a 6-4 win. At the No. 3 spot, freshman Mohammad Alkotop and junior David Martirosian posted a 6-3 win. 
 
In singles, Zarkovic won at the first position in two sets (7-6(5), 7-5) and Fenollar posted a comeback at the No. 3 spot, winning the last sets to earn a point for the Aggies (3-6, 6-3, 6-4). 
 
In other matches, senior Stijn Paardekooper lost in three sets at the second position (6-3, 4-6, 3-6), sophomore Nuno Pinheiro lost in straight sets at the fourth position (2-6, 3-6), Alkotop lost in three sets at the fifth position (3-6, 6-4, 2-6) and freshman Phillip Rein lost in straight sets at the sixth position (3-6, 4-6). 
 
The Aggies begin Mountain West Conference competition next week at New Mexico, where they will take on the Lobos on Thursday, March 28, at 4 p.m.
