Box Score LOGAN, Utah – Utah State softball (19-12, 3-3 MW) fell in its third game of a three-game series against Boise State Saturday afternoon, losing 13-1 in a five-inning contest. Though USU dropped the final game, it secured the series with a pair of wins on Friday, its first series victory over the Broncos since 2017.
Boise State posted an early lead with two runs scored in the first inning, but Utah State junior infielder Ariel Fifita countered with a homerun in the first at-bat for the Aggies, earning the team's lone run of the day.
Boise State scored five runs in the second inning to make it 7-1, then had a pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth to secure the five-inning win. In total, BSU recorded 11 hits while Utah State had five. USU finished with two errors to the Bronco's zero.
On the mound, Redshirt sophomore Denay Smith started the game but was replaced after the first inning by sophomore Tess Bumiller who went for 1.0 Innings. Senior Jessica Stewart entered the circle in the third, then sophomore Hailey McLean took over the final innings.
