ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Utah State men's tennis lost at Mountain West-foe New Mexico on Thursday by a final score of 4-3. USU is now 13-4 on the season and 0-1 in MW play, while UNM improves to 10-7 and 1-0 in the MW. 
 
Utah State started the match with graduate senior Bodin Zarkovic and junior Sergi Micó Fenollar winning 6-2 at the second position. Sophomore Nuno Pinheiro and senior Stijn Paardekooper then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the first position. 
 
Fenollar clinched the first point in the singles portion of the match by posting a win in straight sets at the No. 3 spot (7-6 (3), 6-1) and was followed by Paardekooper winning in straight sets at the No. 2 spot (7-6(4), 6-0). 
 
In other matches, Zarkovic lost in three sets at the No. 1 spot in a tie break (3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (6)), Pinheiro fell in three sets at the No. 4 spot (2-6, 6-3, 2-6), freshman Mohammad Alkotop lost in three sets at the No. 5 spot (7-5, 2-6, 5-7) and freshman Philipp Rein lost in a straight sets match that was decided by a tiebreak at the No. 6 spot (2-6, 6-7 (5).
 
USU will be back in action this Saturday, March 30, at Air Force at noon.
