LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's tennis posted a 4-0 Mountain West home win against Nevada at the Sports Academy & Racquet Club Friday afternoon.
Utah State (16-3, 3-1 MW) earned the doubles point to start the match as freshman
Mohammad Alkotop and junior
David Martirosian posted a 6-1 win at the third position, while graduate senior
Bodin Zarkovic and junior Sergi Micó Fenollar clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 win at the second position.
Zarkovic started the singles portion of the match by winning in straight sets at the No. 1 spot (6-3, 6-1), and was followed by sophomore
Nuno Pinheiro posting a win in straight sets at the No. 5 spot (6-2, 6-2). Freshman
Philipp Rein decided the match for the Aggies with a straight sets win at the No. 6 spot (6-3, 6-4).
In other matches, senior
Stijn Paardekooper, Fenollar and Alkotop's matches all remained unfinished.
USU will be back in action on Sunday, April 14, when it hosts UNLV at noon. The team will honor its two graduating seniors in Zarkovic and Paardekooper prior to the match.
