Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Utah State men's tennis season lost its Mountain West Championship semifinal match to fourth-seeded San Diego State 4-3 here on Friday night. The Aggies, who were the top seed in the tournament, is now 18-5 on the season and will wait for the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Monday afternoon to see if it receives an at-large bid. 
 
Utah State is now 10-7 all-time at the Mountain West Championships, including a 3-3 record in semifinal matches.  
 
San Diego State (17-6) took the lead early by clinching the doubles point with wins at the first and second positions. At the third position, junior David Martirosian and freshman Mohammad Alkotop posted a 6-1 win.
 
In singles play, the Aggies earned the first three points to gain the lead. Senior Stijn Paardekooper posted a straight sets win at the No. 2 spot (6-0, 6-2). Graduate senior Bodin Zarkovic followed with a straight sets win at the No 1 spot (6-3, 7-6 (5)). And junior Sergi Micó Fenollar posted a straight sets win at the No. 3 spot (7-6 (4), 6-3).
 
However, the Aztecs came back in the final three singles matches, posting wins against Alkotop at the No. 4 spot (6-2, 2-6, 6-0), against junior Nuno Pinheiro at the No. 5 spot (6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2) and against freshman Philipp Rein at the No. 6 spot (7-5, 6-4).
