LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head volleyball coach Rob Neilson announced the signing of Andrea Simovski (Sim-ov-ski) and Jagoda Bialek (Yah-go-duh Bee-aw-lick) on Wednesday.
"We are so excited to have Jagoda and Andrea join our team," Neilson said. "They are amazing women and highly accomplished volleyball players. Their international experience, competing at the highest levels, will be a great addition to our gym and our program's pursuit of championship level competition and performance."
Simovski, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter from Belgrade, Serbia, will join the Aggies as an incoming freshman. She has played club volleyball with Radnicki Blaster. At the Serbian National Tournament in the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, Simovski helped her U16 team earn gold and U18 earn bronze, respectively.
Bialek, a 5-foot-8 libero from Opole, Poland, also joins the Aggies as an incoming freshman. She played club volleyball for ECO Uni Opole for eight years from 2015 to 2023, helping her squad to four-straight league championships from 2020 to 2023, while the team finished as one of the top 16 teams in the nation in 2022 and 2023. Bialek was named the best libero of the Poland National Quarterfinal's Tournament in 2023.
In 2024, Bialek joined Uni Opole's upper squad in the TAURON Liga, Poland's top professional volleyball league. There, she helped the team to a third-place finish in the Polish Cup. The team qualified for the league playoffs after finishing seventh in the regular season.
Utah State opens its 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30, against Green Bay in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah Tournament and begins its home season on Friday, Sept. 6, against California.
