LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head softball coach Todd Judge announced the addition of Marissa Schuld (shh-old) to his coaching staff. Schuld will serve as the team's pitching coach.

Schuld joins the Aggies after an outstanding collegiate playing career as a pitcher. The native of Scottsdale, Arizona, began her career at Arizona, where she played for two seasons (2020-21). After transferring and redshirting in 2021, she played three seasons (2022-24) at Arizona State, where she was an all-Pac-12 honoree.

"Marissa is one of the most accomplished pitchers I have ever coached. She was the national player of the year and an All-American coming out of high school and had numerous scholarship offers from Power 5 schools," Judge said. "We did a good job pitching last year, but we want to take our pitching to a whole new level, and we believe that Marissa's pedigree and expertise can take our bullpen to that level.

"Marissa is one of the most competitive kids I've ever coached, and I know that passion will continue forward in her coaching. I'm excited for our pitchers to be mentored by a person with such a hallowed path."

In three seasons at Arizona State, Schuld made 74 appearances in the circle with a 17-17 record and a 3.58 ERA. She earned all-conference accolades in 2022 as she posted a 10-2 record while recording a 2.69 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .215 batting average, leading the team to an NCAA Super Regionals appearance. In 2023, she ranked third in the Pac-12 and 21st nationally with five saves. Schuld also totaled 75 at-bats as a Sun Devil, tallying 14 hits with 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

At Arizona, Schuld was utilized as a two-way player and became the team's primary designated player, starting 15 of the Wildcats' 25 games as a designated player in 2020. As a sophomore, she posted a .350 batting average (14-for-40) with six RBIs, six runs scored and two home runs as the team made a run to the Women's College World Series. During her two years in Tucson, Schuld made eight pitching appearances, posting a 0.51 ERA and a 2-0 record.

Prior to her collegiate career, Schuld prepped at Pinnacle High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was named the FloSoftball High School Player of the Year in 2018. She earned Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year accolades her junior and senior seasons, and was a first-team all-state, all-region, all-district and all-conference performer. Schuld also played club softball under Judge with the Oro Valley Suncats.
