WAIPAHU, Hawaii - Utah State soccer (2-0, 0-0 MW) improved to 2-0 on the season Sunday afternoon, using a big first half and a dominant defensive performance to defeat Hawai'i 3-0 at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
After a quiet 20 minutes to open the game, the Aggies opened up a scoring onslaught, netting three goals in just three minutes of action. First, it was a 21st minute strike from senior forward
Bizzy Arevalo with an assist from junior forward
Tess Werts. Then, Werts found one of her own just over a minute later, scoring a right-footer with a helper from graduate defender
Kylie Olsen. Sophomore midfielder
Summer Diamond capped off the trifecta in the 24th minute, as the freshman forward duo of
Ellie Hendrix and
Austin Miller each recorded their first career assists.
With a 3-0 lead in hand, the Aggies controlled the scoreless remainder of the contest. In total, USU out-shot Hawai'i 21-6 with 12 different Utah State players registering shots.

- With the win, Utah State is off to its first 2-0 start to a season since 2017 and its 10th in program history.
- Kylie Olsen was named the OUTRIGGER Kickoff Tournament MVP, while she, Alex Day, Kaitlyn Richins, Bizzy Arevalo and Shay Kercher-Pratt earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.

Utah State (2-0, 0-0 MW) will return to Logan for its first home match of the season when the Aggies host No. 8 Texas Tech at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Noon. The match will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
