LOGAN, Utah - Utah State soccer's graduate defender Kylie Olsen was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Aggies open the season 2-0 with a pair of shutouts last week in Hawaii.

Olsen was named the OUTRIGGER Kickoff Tournament MVP as she helped the Aggies to a 4-0 win over Pepperdine in the season opener on Aug. 15, then a 3-0 victory over Hawai'i on Aug. 18. She scored a goal and recorded a pair of assists while also anchoring the Aggie defense. Against the Waves, Olsen tallied a goal and an assist with two shots in 56 minutes of action. She followed that with an assist against the Rainbow Wahine while playing 67 minutes in that match.

As a team, Utah State out-shot its opponents by a combined 40-11 in the two games, allowing just five shots on goal.

This is the first MW Defensive Player of the Week honor of Olsen's career.
