Box Score LOS ANGELES – Utah State volleyball lost on the road to Loyola Marymount, 3-0, on Friday night at the Gersten Pavilion.
Set One
The Aggies jumped out in front to begin the match, utilizing a 6-0 run to take a15-8 lead at the media timeout. From there, the Lions clawed back with a 6-0 run of their own to ultimately tie the set at 17 all. In the closing stages, a 3-0 burst from LMU proved decisive as the home side took set one, 25-22.
Set Two
The Lions extended their momentum into the second frame, opening up a 6-1 advantage at the start of the set. Another 6-0 LMU run proved to much to overcome for the Aggies as the Lions took a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 win.
Set Three
After exchanging points for the first six rallies of the third set, a 10-2 run from LMU proved to be the final blow as USU was unable to form a comeback as the Lions clinched the match with a 25-12 victory.
Quick Notes
- Freshman Kaylie Kofe became the first player outside of freshman Jagoda Bialek to lead the Aggies in digs. Kofe finished with six digs in the match, finishing one ahead of both freshmen Delaney Lawson and Kate Lijic.
- Lijic also posted a team-high nine assists.
- Senior Adna Mehmedovic led USU in kills for the second match in a row, finishing with eight.
- Junior Tierney Barlow also led the Aggies in blocks for the second match in a row, finishing with a pair of block assists on the night.
